Has Anyone Tried The Listening Program From Advanced Brain Technologies?
I met a lady through gardening, of all things, who said she had great success with The Listening Program and I thought I'd ask if anyone has tried it. I'm pretty frugal so I don't want to spend money on something that might just be a gimmick. :)

Just an update on this topic, the Listening Program by Advanced Brain Technologies,
I finally found a number of theirs to call (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators)' Spoke with an audio engineer by the name of Derek who was most helpful and able to answer all of my questions.
One of my main concerns was having the right equipment and we talked about all specifications of headphones for a while, and he strongly recommended AKG K99 which - he felt they were by far the best deal out there, will be as adequate as any other headphones for this program. NOTE one should not use any Equalizer, unless using a FLAT profile - using some adjusted profile will decrease the effectiveness. Any alternative headphones should be those with a Flat Response, and cover frequency range from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. They offer them for $80, and I don’t think anyone beats the price (amazon, musicians friend, newegg, etc).
When one signs up for the 7 day free trial and prioritize their categories, that prioritization ultimately selects one of two of their programs - either SPECTRUM or ACHIEVE. Spectrum would be the one you'd want to try for autism, though somehow, the way I prioritized, it had selected achieve for me - they were able to fix that over the phone for me - I think that’s important to note - you don't have to re-arrange the priority list and it will automatically select SPECTRUM for you if you don't (and you can later monitor which program you are running on the dashboard).
Upon expiration of my 7 day trial, I wll buy streamed programming for a single person (my daughter) for just under $30/month. And will try it out for at least 3 months (without changing other variables) to determine how effective it is.
IMO, this is worth it to try as I spend so much more than that on supplements and therapies already. Then, if we do see significant results, we will consider upgrading. They offer their programs on a pre-loaded iPod (so that you then don't have to rely upon internet connectivity), though its a bit expensive because that package includes a training program (so that you learn how to set up program by scheduling tracks, etc),
and finally, they offer a wave system – that’s basically a special set of headphones which provides conductive pressure to the cranium (as opposed to only receiving the program through auditory sense). This package is for clients who have significant sensory issues. This is a bit of an investment (about $1,800 for the wave phones, iPod, program tracks, and training). I might try that pending the results of the first few months.
I was asking a lot of very targeted questions and feel pretty good about the potential of this program, but
MOST IMPORTANT thing for this program to work is Consistency - getting your child to follow the schedule, and use the headphones each day. (I think that its two fifteen minute sessions per day, five days a week).
I'll update this post from time to time to let you know how its working for us.
We've been using TLP for about four months now. When we initially began, we noticed significant advances within the first week. The frequency of our daughter attempting to initiate conversation increased, as did the length of sentences. It also seems to have a calming/grounding effect. We were fortunate that we didn't have much trouble in getting our daughter to wear the headphones, and within a few weeks, our daughter began requesting "music time".
After the couple of weeks, the gains were no longer noticeable. Though our daughter seems to respond to all types of treatment this way - initially a very noticeable, quantifiable benefit, then tapering off into unnoticeable results.
Last night our daughter was resisting going to bed, kept getting up to turn the lights back on. When I put the headphones on her, she laid down and allowed the lights to remain off so that she could enjoy her session. By the end of which she was very calm and allowed herself to drift off into sleep.
We will continue to use TLP. Due to experiences just like last night. Our daughter enjoys it, and I believe that it is having some positive, permanent effect. Our cost remains at $24.95 per month, and I think its a good value. I also discovered some studies which conclude that music therapies are among the most effective treatments for people on the spectrum (though of course there are phonies out there, I think the TLP is a good one). I'd recommend to try it out for at least the free seven day trail period.
I would double check with their engineer (Derek) on the headphones that you intend to use with the program.

There was an ad for it on this page for me yesterday:
https://tlp.advancedbrain.com/signup/pricing.jsp
Though it is not showing for me today - I suspect because I am using the same IP address and/or am already logged in and in process of trying my seven day trial. I think it will show up for you if you go to that link using the IP address that has not been used yet?
They will ask you to prioritize your goals. The categories they provided were:
social interaction
communication
listening
administrative
physical coordination
(and I think three more that I can not remember what they were exactly).
And then they supposedly filter out tone ranges according to your goal prioritization.
I listened to a thirty-minute track this morning while trying to get my daughter to listen to it (as I designed the program for her). It was classical music, no binaurla beats or isochronic tones that I heard, just clear frequencies.
A few things to note is that they have a section with suggestions on how to get your child to wear the headphones - some pretty good tips and I believe we will become successful at getting our daughter to comply over some brief time.
Also VERY important to note are the equipment specifications. For example, which PC browsers and which tablet/phone browsers are compatible. Also as it is streaming from the cloud, they suggest a minimum of 2 Mb/s down speed capability. No spec for sound card surprisingly. For the headphones, they provide no spec but rather persuade one to buy phones from their store. They listed three Sennheiser products in partcular, each of which you can find for a significanlty better price elsewhere (Amazon fr example). The headphones should be a good audiophle performance and specifically, earbuds should not be used. The highest end ones they listed were just $130 on Amazon, and should have other practical uses, so I will likely buy those.
Would be a good idea to have your child get used to using headphones, and get the right equipment, prior to beginning the trial.
We tried it. I did not notice any change.
