No magic pills are available yet. Too bad. That would be so much easier than these effective treatments to improve speech in our kids.
1. Biomedical treatments: see Defeat Autism Now webpage to find a practioner.
2. Applied Behavior Analysis
3. Neurotherapy
4. A good speech therapist.

Nope...speech therapy is the way to go. Pills don't fix everything. It's work.

I am starting Methyl b12, but look into what other supplements to take with it, I read that in combination with other things it may have different results. Good luck

Supplements that led to dramatic speech improvements for my DD literally within days: Behavior Balance DMG, acetyl-l-carnitine, and Coenzyme Q10. Jury's still out on the methyl B12 shots since we just started the active ones a week ago, but DD does seem a bit chattier. No changes for my DD when I increased the dosage of omega 3's but some people swear by that. I'd like to try n-acetyl-cysteine but our biomed dr. said that NAC can worsen yeast so he wants to do some anti-yeast treatments before adding NAC. We can't make any changes, however, until DD finishes the mB12 study she's in.

My four year old just babbled a few, mostly unintelligible words, and I SO wanted him to talk. We invested in a speech therapist who visited and worked with him for a couple hours a week. I was overjoyed at his progress, and by the time he was five he was stringing sentences together using words I could understand.
He's 13 now, and I spend lots of my energy patiently waiting for him to finish a long story (in precise chronological order) that has little to do with the point he was trying to make.
As usual, Jill is spot on - it will take hard work, but a good multivitamin won't hurt.
