currently my son's school and I are making a weighted vest for him to use at school. We took a standard hoodie and stiched pouches into the inside of it about 5 inches square leaving the tops open. Then we got a 10 pound bag of rice and made a bunch of bean bags about 3 inches square and then filled them with rice. We slip one or two bean bags into the pouches (we are still adjusting the locations of which pouches to fill with how many beanbags) ... to launder we slimply remove the bean bags wash then return the bean bags to the pouches.

The combination of a cotton outer flannel and a lightweight inner-lining produces a thinner, softer weighted blanket that can be used all year round.  Most other weighted blankets are made of fleece or other heavier fabric that become hot, sticky, and sweaty in warm months. The fabric of a weighted blanket is breathable.
Each size of weighted blanket comes in different weights so that your child will have just the right blanket for him or her.
The second offers a second blanket for less that is latex free nylon for 30 bucks.cheapertoo
