Respite Care California
I was told by my sons regional center service coordinator that I have to apply for IHSS before he can receive respite is this true? Others are telling me that they are two separate things
I believe those who get IHSS are eligible for more hours of respite so that's probably why your case manager is wanting you to go through the process of applying for IHSS. My DD doesn't get IHSS but she is eligible for respite. I haven't actually accepted respite because between the cost share and the fact that I'd have to pay the respite sitter an additional amount to watch my other 2 kids, it just isn't something that's in our budget right now.
hi ! We live in Texas and signed up through the advice of a social worker through MHMR when Noah was 4 yrs old.His name finally came up on the list 1 year ago He is now 14 .So that tells you how long the wait might be... although it might be different in Cali... It is a wonderful program and they offer a lot of options up until Noah is grown and out of high school...Please check into it as soon as possible!
I forgot to mention I live in Ontario, California
That is not true! I was just approved for respite through Inland Regional center. I have not been approved yet for IHSS. They are two separate things.
