DS is in elementary school (4th grade) and they don't have a program like that. It really bothers me to see kindergarten through 5th graders walking home on the roads. We've had issues where someone has stopped a car and asked a kid to get in. I don't believe it is safe. What an awesome program you found.

Maybe there is a friend who will walk with him. We started letting our 14 yr.old Aspie ride his bike into town and go to the library. It has been very scary but we haven't had an incident yet and it has been about a year. Aspie's are usually such rule followers and we have even followed him a couple times when he didn't know and he does exactly what he is supposed to do. We do a strip search on him though to make sure he doesn't take money with him or he will stop at Kmart and buy cards.
