I feel your pain. My son is now 17 and actually asks to have his toenails cut when they get too long for his liking. This is the same kid who up to the age of 13 or so would require at least 4 adults to hold him down to do a toenail trim. You would have thought we were trying to kill him the way he screamed and flailed about.

As for the issue at hand (or foot, really! - sorry - couldn't resist) I've always had good luck with a solution of bleach:water with a ratio of about 1 part bleach to 3 parts water. To avoid destroying carpets, towels, etc., put the solution in a metal or glass bowl that you place right in the shower and have your son get into the shower to soak. Then you can rinse his foot off after the soak so he doesn't drag the bleach out into your home.

Now if I could only convince my guy to let me clean his belly button...

Yes...let your pediatrition or podietrist handle this one...if he cant cope he can be given a mild sedative like a low dose valium or ativan.

I found this link from an office of medical doctors... they too recommend bleach although a much more dilute solution than I said so I'd go with their advice! http://www.pediatricsaroundthebend.com/forms/In...

Lol, ok thanks, well try the elevation because of the new literature out on sedatives effecting regressions in autism...and past experiance with horrible adverse reactions.
