Are There Any Legal Aid Or Advocacy Groups For Autistic Children?
There are lawyers and advocates that specialize in autistic children out there, but they are not all free. if you want a list of them in your area contact autism speaks and they can help you. You can send them a message on the web site, or you can call and talk to someone. You have the right to be your childs legal advocate just in case you did not know this, so unless it is a legal issue I would handle it myself.
Every state has a Disability Law Center that is free although they don't accept every case. Go to www.parentcenternetwork.org/parentcenterlisting... to find the one in your state.
Sorry. I didn't know it was for custody. I just saw legal and advocate. The disability law center does provide legal and advocacy but for issues around school and around medicaid..... ie. the rights our kids have. You would find a family law lawyer for a custody battle. However if you are looking for someone to help support your son, an advocate at a disability law center may be willing to do this.... or they may be able to give you a name. Likewise, I would check with the courts. I'm about to do a guardianship hearing for my son and the courts assign him an advocate to represent his rights.
Thank-you. I will contact them......
Hi:I check your inf, but the agencies listed in that web are for IDEA Law and help with IEP,but they are not Legal nor advocate.
