It Seems Like Everything He Experiences, No Matter How Long Ago, Happened Just Now.
Today, I installed a new app on his tablet, something we've done dozens of times. He got extremely upset and it took him about an hour to move on. He was upset because the new app wasn't wrapped up like a present. Two years ago, on his old Android tablet, which looks nothing like his current one, the security software would make a newly installed apps icon look like a present. Once you clicked on it, the present would explode, become the real app icon and then open. His current iPad never had… read more
I never had a BlackBerry, but I remember when they were all the rage. I had a Samsung Blackjack back in 2006 after my Motorola Razr 3 sadly got stolen :( The Blackjack was awesome. It had a Windows… read more
How Do You Handle When Your Child Won’t Go Out To Eat Like For Mother’s Day Lunch, Even When You Tell Them That It’s Your Choice?
My daughter doesn’t want to go out to eat Mother’s Day lunch. She’s playing with her Lego and won’t get ready for the day. She wants to get the food and bring it home to eat it.
She took her iPad and headphones. That usually works.

Hi Everyone! Has Anyone Tried Enrolling Their Child To An ABA School? Are They Good?
That would be at the discretion of the Clinical Supervisor. My daughter is receiving 6 hrs per week and she’s on her 3rd round of extended ABA (and almost 15). Personally, I believe at your son’s age… read more
How Can I Get My 5 Yr Old Great Grandson To Realize It Is Unacceptable To Fondle Himself In Front Of Others?
When my daughter was about 6 she used to continuously take her pants off which is a similar situation. I agree with what Alyssa439 suggested. Such a great and positive approach.😊

Why Does My Daughter Get Overwhelmed And Cry When I Tell Her Of Things Ahead Of Time?
My daughter is excited about reading night at school tonight. Yesterday I told her that I was getting her tested for a problem with her handwriting in June and she started crying. I asked her why and she just says there’s a lot of things going on. And that she has counseling at school next Week. And just a lot of things coming up that she doesn’t really have to worry about right now and I told her that. I asked her why she was obsessed. She didn’t know. But she calmed down and said that she was… read more
She also gets anxious when I ask her to pick up things, put away her dishes, clean her room, or do her homework. Or when I do anything to correct her, like tell her to work on writing her u and 4.
Is It Common For Kids With Autism To Have Little Self Motivation?
I see other kids want a drivers license, hunting license, buying things related to their hobbies etc and taking steps to do it. Mine says she wants to drive but won't open the book, wants her HS diploma but won't do the work etc. I am very goal oriented so this is very hard to wrap my mind around.
Yes. And the “breaking things down” into just the first step, and doing that, then talking about the 2nd step and doing that, and so on, is great advice.
My 6yo Has Started Waking Up In Middle Of Night Having Like Chills Only Lasting About 5/10mins No Crying At All Then She Goes Back Sleep
My daughter uses a compression sheet on the advice of our OT. She loves it.
If it continues for a long time, I would consider ruling out and potential medical issues
Anyone Have A 3/4 Year Old , & Your Child Has Started Repeating Words You Say?
My kids are 7, and yes they started “echolalia” or repeating words and then phrases back by the time they were 3. Speech therapy is very helpful.
