Has Anyone Had Their Child With Sensory Perception Disorder Tested For Sleep Disorders
They are wanting to have our daughter tested for sleep disorders, just wondering how that will work with her sensory perception disorder.will she be able to tolerate the electrodes and such through the night so they can get accurate testing done. Any one have any suggestions?
I'm curious if the light therapy worked.
I was told not to use melatonin with her, they have her results back in now, they said she needs a photo therapy light for about forty five minutes every morning and keep her sleep schedual very rigid even on the weekends. So now she goes to bed at nine and we try to wake her at six. its still a new process for her but they said that eventually she will get up easy. they said she has delayed sleep phase syndrome.
so for the moment we will just see how it works.
Personally I don't see the point of a sleep test. If going to go through that aggravation better to do an overnight EEG done instead which maybe be clinically useful. Yes kids on spectrum have more sleep issues but you don't need to do a sleep test to figure that out. Just treat for it regardless (melatonin being the first one to try).
My daughter had a sleep test done last year at 4yrs old and it was a nightmare! I had to hold her down the entire time they hooked up all the electrodes, she screamed the entire time. I had to hold her hands down after they got everything on because she tried ripping them off. She finally fell asleep which she only did for a short time but they did get enouph for a reading.Hopefully yours will go better!
