How do u know if your child needs ABA?

It’s usually the recommendation of the Dr who diagnosed. If it’s something you’re considering then you’d have an evaluation done just like with other services like speech and OT

IEP Suggestions - Reinstatement

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Parkton, MD

What is the biggest thing I need to do to get my son back on an IEP plan? He was pulled off at the end of 3rd grade, now in 5th grade. We just had him re-evaluated at Kennedy Krieger becasue of my concerns with his language disability, I felt the school was disregarding, not to mention his serious executive functioning challenges. He's PDDNOS/severly ADHD/with General Anxiety Disorder/ and deaf in his right ear. Kennedy Krieger tested him at a 3rd grade reading comprehension! I've pushed the… read more

It strikes me as very foolish for a school to deny an IEP to a child who obviously needs and can benefit from it, when it is funded but the 504 isn't. Maybe a reminder to them of that?

Does Anyone Know Where We Can Obtain Funding For Developing A Program For Young ASD Adults (age 21+) ?

A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭
Anniston, AL

My daughter and 2 of her classmates will soon "age-out" of our state's education program for special needs children. They have "behaviors" that will prevent them from obtaining and keeping a job. There are also no affordable facilities or programs for young adults in our area. As a group we would like to develop a program similar to the one they have at school but lack the funds. I've researched online but was only shown sites to obtain funding for chartering a school which is not what we… read more

Usually my son is very hard to wake in the morning ( takes about a half hour of hard rubbing and talking to him to get him to even open his eyes and sit up) but twice this week he has been up for a while before me, Is it common for sleep issues go from one extreame to the other like this?
